JONESBORO — Columbus Day, a federal holiday, is Monday but county offices in Clay, Craighead, Cross, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Mississippi, Poinsett and Randolph will remain open. The only county reporting a closure is Sharp.
A few cities have also reported that their municipal offices will be closed. Those include Hoxie, Trumann, Newport, Hardy and Piggott. City offices in Jonesboro, Paragould, Walnut Ridge, Marked Tree, Harrisburg, Osceola, Pocahontas, Wynne and Corning will remain open.
Only Newport has reported a change in garbage pick up. Monday’s garbage route will be collected Tuesday and Tuesday’s will be collected Wednesday. Thursday’s and Friday’s routes will run as usual.
Private sanitation services such as Shelton Sanitation and Waste Connections will also provide regular service.
State offices, including the Department of Finance and Registration, will be open, while the U.S. Postal Service and federal court will be closed.
The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library will be open.
Hoxie City Water Works will be closed Oct. 20 for an all-day employee training.
