BONO — Overlay work on U.S. 63 between the city of Bono and the Lawrence County line near Sedgwick will require lane closures, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.

Weather permitting, crews will begin work today. The total length of the project is seven miles.

The work will require daily lane closures which will occur weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the project is complete, which is estimated to be five weeks.

Traffic will be controlled by traffic cones, flaggers and signage. Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.

The Craighead County Highway Department will close Craighead 159, between Craighead 147 and U.S. 63, north of Bono, beginning on Monday to replace the bridge.

Detour signs will be posted to alert the public and motorists are asked to use caution in the area.

The work should take approximately two months to complete. Commuters should allow for additional travel time.
