New Region 3 parks supervisor named

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas State Parks now has a new Region 3 supervisor to oversee the operations and management of 13 parks in eastern Arkansas. John Stewart has worked at other state parks for the last 13 years and has been the acting Region 3 co-supervisor for the past three months.

A number of parks in Region 3 are located in Northeast Arkansas. They include Crowley’s Ridge State Park in Walcott, Lake Frierson State Park in Jonesboro, Lake Poinsett State Park in Harrisburg, Village Creek State Park in Cross and St. Francis counties, Herman Davis State Park in Manila, Hampson Archeological Museum State Park in Wilson and Parkin Archeological State Park.

Stewart takes over the position from Marcel Hanzlik who retired after 38 years with the park system.
