JONESBORO — The Red Cross The American Red Cross is urging people of all races and ethnicities to give blood to help ensure a diverse blood supply for patients in need.

Some blood types are unique to certain racial and ethnic groups. For patients with rare blood types, blood from someone with a similar racial or ethnic background is important to decrease the chance of complications.

Donations may be made daily at the Jonesboro Blood Donation Center, 1904-A Grant St. Appointments to donate are required. For additional information on making a donation, visit or call 800-733-2767.

Blood drives for the upcoming week include:

Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wynne High School, 800 E. Jackson Ave.

Monday – 2 to 6 p.m., Rector Community Center, 740 E. Ninth St.

Tuesday – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., First Baptist Church, 715 W. Walnut St., Blytheville.

Thursday – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., First Financial Bank, 528 East Merriman Ave., Wynne.

Sept. 18 – 2 to 6 p.m., Gosnell Community Building, 307 S. Air Base Highway.
