LITTLE ROCK — The 2020 Small Works on Paper (SWOP) traveling exhibition is now available online. Small Works on Paper is the Arkansas Art Council’s annual juried exhibition. More than 300 artworks by Arkansas artists are submitted each year but only up to 40 pieces are selected by an out-of-state juror.

The exhibition will continue to tour physical locations this summer, but in the meantime, it can be seen at https://bit.ly/2AtlGAB.

Starting Monday the council will accept submissions for the 2021 SWOP exhibition. Deadline to submit work is July 24. The exhibition will open in January 2021 at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City. Works may be submitted online at https://bit.ly/2Lp0r5c.

SWOP is open to current members of the Arkansas Artist Registry. Non-members may submit entries by joining the registry at time of entry. Entry fees are $10 for one entry, $20 for two entries or $25 for three entries. Artists will be notified regarding acceptance in September.

All work submitted must be original, on paper and completed within the last two years. Eligible mediums include painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, mixed media and collage. Additional guidelines are available online.

Judy Ledgerwood is the 2021 juror. She teaches in the Department of Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University, where she is the Alice Welsh Skilling Professor in the Arts.

Up to $2,000 will be available for juror selected awards. Selected works will become part of the SWOP permanent collection.
