Patricia Darlene Kirk Black made her transition into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Darlene retired as a Gifted and Talented Education Teacher for the Newport School District. She was a devoted wife and a gifted artist. She designed and made jewelry, and also sewed quilts. She made storybook quilts and spoke at many conferences, discussing how educators could teach any subject with the quilts. In addition, she made portrait quilts depicting notable Arkansans. She won awards at the state and national levels and has served on numerous education committees and State Boards.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Black; one sister, Eleanor Faye Kirk; one brother, Rickey Kirk; two nephews, Eric Calhoun and LeRon Gillespie; two nieces, Akilah D. Calhoun and Ikeysha Malone; several great-nephews and great-nieces; and a host of adoring family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday, April 23, at 1 p.m. at the Oddfellow Cemetery in Auvergne.
