NHS RIFLE TEAM WINS STATE
The Newport High School Rifle Team are Precision State Champions for 2021. The Precision Team Consists of Jasmine Dalton, Xander Kane, Seth Morales and Eli Murphy (pictured). The team is coached by 1st Sergeant Woody Daniels of the NHS JROTC. Precision individual awards include Prone: 3rd Place Seth Morales and 1st Place Jasmine Dalton; Standing: 3rd Place Xander Kane and 1st Place Jasmine Dalton; and Kneeling: 2nd Place Xander Kane and 1st Place Jasmine Dalton. Overall Precision Division awards includes 2nd Place Xander Kane and 1st Place Jasmine Dalton. Jasmine shot a school record 591 score beating former Greyhound Jimea Macias. The top three teams were 3rd Place Watson Chapel, 2nd Place Northside 2202, and 1st Place Newport 2236.
