A Tuesday morning crash in Independence County claimed the life of a Batesville man.
Nicholas B. Warner, 23, died as a result of the crash that happened June 1, at 8:25 a.m., on State Highway 69 at South Vaughn St., at Sulphur Rock.
A summary of the crash by Arkansas State Police states that Warner, driving a 2000 Peterbilt Semi, attempted to cross State Highway 69 from South Vaughn Street, when the truck pulled into the path of a 2010 Nissan Xterra and the Semi overturned.
It was raining at the time of the crash.
Also, a Memorial Day crash in Independence County claimed the life of a Melbourne man.
Guy W. Saber, 52, died following the crash at Southside on U.S. Highway 167.
Arkansas State Police report that Saber, traveling south on a 2014 Yamaha, was attempting to negotiate a curve to the left when he lost control, left the roadway, struck a ditch embankment, became airborne, then struck a utility pole.
The crash happened at 7:02 p.m. Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry.
A Saturday afternoon crash in Paragould claimed the life of Damien Kenny Crain Johnston, 22, of Paragould.
The crash happened at 2:47 p.m. at Highway 412 West and Hillcrest Street.
According to a summary of the crash reported by the Arkansas State Police, Johnston was traveling west on 412 on a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle. Witnesses report that a vehicle headed east on 412, a 2007 Ford, crossed over into the westbound lanes of traffic. Witnesses also stated that the motorcycle attempted to avoid the Ford by swerving to the left just as the Ford swerved back into the turn lane, striking the Yamaha.
No information on the driver of the Ford was provided by state police.
An evening crash on Thursday, May 27, in rural Greene County, claimed the life of a Paragould woman, and injured two other Paragould residents.
Joy Maria Lucas, 35, of Paragould, died as a result of the crash.
According to a summary report by the Arkansas State Police, Lucas was driving a 2011 Chrysler 200, headed north on U.S. Highway 49 near 749 Road, when the vehicle hydroplaned and skidded across all lanes of traffic.
The Chrysler collided with a 2015 GMC Sierra that was traveling south on U.S. Highway 49.
The driver of the Sierra, Marion Eugene Wilkerson, 67, of Paragould, and passenger Earlene Johnson, 71, of Paragould, were injured in the crash and transported to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, according to the state police report.
The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. during heavy rain.
A one-vehicle crash Wednesday night, May 26, claimed the life of a Trumann man.
The crash happened at 9:39 p.m. in Harrisburg, at State Highway 214 and Red Ditch Lane in Poinsett County.
Danny Ray Gillespie, 68, died after the 2001 Ford Expedition he was driving ran off the right side of the road as he traveled east on State Highway 214.
According to state police, the van then crossed the center line, and ran off the left side of the road and rolled several times before stopping in the ditch on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
