Two structures caught fire Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Huntington Avenue and Oakhurst Street, according to the Jonesboro Fire Department. Firefighters responded to the 1400 block of Huntington Avenue just before 4 p.m., where a vacant apartment complex, which was under renovation, was on fire. The fire had spread to another structure behind it on Oakhurst Street. Engines E2, E6, E5 and E3, Tankers 2 and 1 aided, with Battalions 1 and 2 and Emerson Ambulance all responding and remaining on scene for several hours until the fire was extinguished. A second well-involved structure fire was reported in the 1700 block of West Matthews Avenue at 2:08 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported in either fire and both are currently under investigation.
