JONESBORO — A man found murdered Saturday night in a home on Self Circle has been identified by police as Brian Ward, 40.

The Jonesboro Police Department responded just before 10:45 p.m. to the 1800 block of Self Circle in reference to an unattended death. JPD disclosed Monday morning its probe into the “unattended death” in a Facebook post.

Witnesses told police they went to knock on Ward’s door and the door swung open, according to the incident report released Monday. A male witness said Ward was on the floor and appeared to be dead, it reads.

“I walked in and saw (Ward) laying on his back with his right arm standing straight up near his face. His left arm was also slightly upwards near his chest,” Officer Madison Hicks wrote in the report. “I observed what looked to be a small amount of blood (in) his left armpit area.”

Officers observed that Ward had “a suspected gunshot wound.” If arrested, the shooter faces a first-degree murder charge, the report indicates.

Ward’s body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for analysis, the department announced.

JPD’s investigation into his death is ongoing and the circumstances of his death were unclear Monday. The report lists four victims – two female and two male – but no suspect was listed.

Anyone with information regarding this death is encouraged to call the police department at 870-935-5657. “If your information leads to an arrest, you will be eligible for a cash reward through CrimeStoppers of Jonesboro,” the department’s announcement read.

The homicide of Ward marks the eighth murder the department has investigated this year, with the last occurring in late July.
