JPD investigates drive-by shooting
JONESBORO – Detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Monday in the 1500 block of French Street.
Bullet holes were found in a wall and window on the south side of the house and the gas main tank, according to the Jonesboro Police Department incident report.
The shooting report was initially linked to a domestic dispute that happened hours earlier in the 2500 block of East Highland Drive. In that case, a woman was reportedly hit in the face and chest during an argument with a male suspect, 19.
According to the incident report, police observed that she had a busted lip and small wound on her chest.
“Witness No. 1 stated that (a man) stopped by the house and shot at them from a vehicle. Upon further investigation, it turned out to be a domestic battery. The shots had been fired at a different house,” Officer Greg Trout wrote.
In another report, two residents are suspected of being under the influence of drugs when their 3-year-old son was found in the road Sunday in the 600 block of Freeman Street.
The complainant told police that a female suspect, 39, was “in the front yard rolling in the grass and appeared to be on a controlled substance,” the report states. She was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Two needles and two glass pipes, all with suspected meth residue, were seized from a male suspect, 40, according to the incident report. Neither suspect was listed as an arrestee on the report.
The child was turned over to another woman per directives by the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services, JPD reported.

Dispute with pregnant woman turns violent
JONESBORO – A man was released Monday on a $5,000 bond after a female household member alleged she was manhandled when she tried to leave their residence.
In her first attempt on Saturday to evade the home in the 700 block of Gladiolus Drive, she said Cortez Borders, 28, of Jonesboro, grabbed her by the arm, according to the incident report.
When the victim tried to get her car keys, she told police the suspect “grabbed her by her hair and pulled her back inside.” The woman was scratched on her right hand and wrist in the scuffle.
She was eventually able to leave the residence and filed a report at the police station on Caraway Road.
“It should also be noted that Victim No. 1 is noticeably pregnant. … While completing the report, officers were dispatched to (the incident location) in reference to an unwanted guest.
Borders was arrested at the scene, the report indicates.
