OSCEOLA — A suspect has been identified in a shooting that occurred Tuesday morning at a Mississippi County nursing home.
Osceola police responded at about 7 a.m. to a shots-fired call at Harris Healthcare, 287 Country Club Road. Chief Ollie Collins said the victim, who was not a resident at the nursing home, had a gunshot wound to the leg.
“According to witness statements, the injured victim is an employee at the location but was only there to pick up another employee when the suspect, Jerry Anderson Jr., began firing his weapon,” Lt. Jerry Hamilton wrote in a press release.
Anderson shot several times at or near the injured party and others at the nursing home, the release states. The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, officials say.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Anderson had not been arrested and the OPD’s investigation was ongoing.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to call the Osceola Police Department at 870-563-5213.
