JONESBORO — A Jonesboro man was given a $500,000 cash-only bond Tuesday after probable cause was found to charge him with first-degree murder.

Independence County District Judge Chaney Taylor ordered the amount for Logan Heath Murray, 25.

Police were called to 3898 Turfway Drive at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday about a possible victim of a gunshot wound, according to a JPD report.

Upon arriving, officers found Gavin Lee Wagster, 22, of 200 Cooper Circle, Paragould, dead from gunshot wounds. Officers found a blood-covered Murray lying beside the victim.

A witness who was in the house told officers that he heard two loud noises and went into the living room to find out the source of the noises. When he entered the room he saw Murray sitting on the couch pointing a shotgun at Wagster, who was on the floor.

The witness yelled at Murray, asking him, “What are you doing?” The witness then ran out of the room asking for help, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The JPD report states there were four witnesses at the residence.
