JONESBORO — A growing number of communities across Northeast Arkansas have more than 10 confirmed coronavirus cases, according to new statistics released Monday by the non-profit Arkansas Center for Health Improvement.

Caraway and Joiner weren't listed in the previous report, but, according to the updated information, Caraway had 16 confirmed cases as of Aug. 3, while Joiner had 10.

The Arkansas Department of Health reports cases on a county level. The ACHI report reveals how hard some individual cities have been hit.

For example, in Washington County, the stats show that 5,099 of Springdale's residents had contracted the virus as of Aug. 3, which is 5.34% of that city's total population. Fayetteville, which is also in Washington County, had 848 cases, or 2.9% of that city's population.

The report showed 1.12% of Jonesboro's population had contracted the disease.
