JONESBORO — The number of Craighead County residents who have been infected by the coronavirus climbed by 53 Thursday, based on the results of 323 tests, according to information released by the Arkansas Department of Health.

Greene, Lawrence, Mississippi, Jackson and Randolph counties’ new cases were also in the double digits. In Jackson County, just 13 tests found 10 new cases.

Statewide, 1,030 new cases were confirmed, bringing the total since the pandemic reached Arkansas in March to 76,676. The death toll rose to 1,097, an increase of 17, including one new death each in Greene and Cross counties.

The state had 7,061 active cases; 457 hospitalized, which is down 11 from Wednesday; and 97 on ventilators, which is up 7.

The state processed a total of 9,553 tests. Craighead County’s 53 new cases came from the results of 323 tests.

Jackson – 273 confirmed (up 10), 40 probable (up 1); 40 active cases; 6,111 total tests; 1 confirmed death.

Randolph – 376 confirmed (up 10), 33 probable (up 4); 54 active cases; 4,841 total tests, 18 confirmed deaths, 4 probable.

Cross – 416 confirmed (up 6), 12 probable (unchanged); 45 active cases; 4,735 total tests, 7 confirmed deaths, 2 probable.
