JONESBORO — Westside High School Principal Micheal Graham resigned this week.

Westside Superintendent Scott Gauntt said Graham cited personal reasons for the sudden decision to abdicate the position.

“His resignation was one sentence,” he said.

High School Assistant Principal Chris George will fill the position as interim, Gauntt said.

Gauntt also said the resignation was not related to the lawsuit filed by former Westside Middle School assistant principal Ulanda Digby-Branch earlier in the year.

Gauntt said there were some suspicious materials found on school property at the pond.

“We found stuff that looked suspicious and called the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force,” Gauntt said. The call to law enforcement was made Sept 16, but there is no report on file with local law enforcement agencies.

Craighead County Chief Deputy Justin Rolland said there have been no complaints called into the sheriff’s office by the Westside School District.

“We have not been requested to work an investigation, and we do not have any report,” he said.

Gauntt could not confirm or deny if Graham’s resignation was related to the incident.

The 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force could not be reached for comment on Friday.
