Jonesboro — Billie Pauline Black, 91, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born April 1, 1929, in Earle to the late James Paul and Rose Lovella Garrod Rogers.
Billie moved to Jonesboro as a small child. She and Cecil were married in 1950. She retired from E.C. Barton and Co., then worked in the Jonesboro City Clerk’s office.
Billie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro for many years. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Norfork and loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Michael Black (Melissa), grandchildren, Kassye Black and Brett Black (Whitley) and great-grandson, Kellan Black, all of Jonesboro; a sister, Imogene Emerson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Black; two brothers, Bobby Rogers and Jimmy Dale Rogers; and two nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
