MARMADUKE — Darrell Smoot, 79, of Marmaduke, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
He was born July 19, 1941, in the Alexander community of Greene County to the late Clifford and Ludie Smoot. He was a member of the Marmaduke First Baptist Church.
He was a tool and die maker until he started his mobile home business, Smoot Mobile Home Sales, Inc. He enjoyed many years in business serving Northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri.
He served many years on the Arkansas Manufactured Housing Association Board in Little Rock. In 1994, his business was named Arkansas Sales Center of the Year and in 1999 he was inducted into the AMHA Hall of Fame.
He loved his family, community, church and going to the coffee shop to catch up on the local news.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Ludie Smoot, wife of 53 years Betty Smoot, sister Linda Steele and son-in-law Kelvin Reagans.
Darrell is survived by his only child, daughter Regina Reagans; granddaughter, Kelsey (Trent) Smith; grandson Kasey (Whitley) Reagans; great-grandchildren Jett and Hensley Smith and Stella Reagans, all of Marmaduke; and host of family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, with Brother Kim Bridges officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyne Shaw, Tom Barnett, Foy Gilliam, James “Bill” Dickinson, Donnie Janes, Jerry McIntosh, Claude Steele.
