JONESBORO — Ernie Herman Vaughn, 78 of Jonesboro passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 15, 1942, in Greene County to Carl and Ruth Hampton Vaughn.
Ernie was of the Baptist faith, he was a very good athlete, loved golf, baseball, basketball and softball, and even coached a Little League ball team.
He ran a bread route for several years and retired from W.A. Krueger, where he worked as a roll tender for 28 years.
Most of all, he was devoted to his family and loved his wife, children and grandchildren beyond measure.
Survivors include his wife, Othella Coffman Vaughn of the home; two sons, Terry Vaughn of Jonesboro and Gary Vaughn (LaCresia) of Newark; one daughter, Kristie Whitten (Robb) of Jonesboro; one brother, Kennith Eldridge Vaughn (Bev) of Morton, Ill.; two sisters, Deloris Cole (Bert) and Iva Clairday (Bob), all of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Chanda Randel, Nikki (Seth) Gipson, Ashley (Jeremy) McKelroy, Brittany (Joey) Ferguson, Allan (Abby) Vaughn, Lindsey (Tyler) Myers, Jon Cooper, Ryan (Emily) Ruddell and Robert Ruddell; 12 great-grandchildren, Devyn and Kaylee Randel, Medley and Miri Fortenberry, River and Addy Gipson, Bentley and Maddox Ferguson, Drake and Marley Vaughn, Aurora Myers and Rhett Ruddell; one great-great-grandchild, Silas Clark; and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Cloyce Vaughn, Carl “Bub” Vaughn and William Earl Vaughn, and two sisters, Loyce Vaughn and Joyce Vaughn.
The family has requested a private disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.
