LAKE CITY — Jerry Hauptman, 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Dyess to the late Eddie and Kittie Hutcheson Hauptman. Jerry was a trucker driver and retired from Yellow Freight Co.
He enjoyed watching and coaching baseball, gardening and yard sales. He loved his family dearly and loved taking his grandchildren fishing.
In December he and Shirley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by wife, Shirley Louise Gossett Hauptman; children, Tonya Kaye Harris (JD), Sonya Gaye Ragsdale (Lee), Kimberly Diane Hauptman and Jeremy “Bear” Kane Hauptman (LaTasha); sister, Juanita Stilwell and Martha Jo Stracener; grandchildren, Carla Denise Hauptman, Richard Todd Pounds (Linsay), Alexis Danyel O’Dell (Cody), Ethan Laine Slaughter, Carlin Wade Slaughter, Drake David, Danielle Lynn and Kaylee Jolene Hauptman; and great-grandchildren, Evan Allen Segraves, Gage Cole Alsup, Emalynn Rose Pounds and one on the way.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Lake City Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.
All attendees must wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.
