JONESBORO — Oma Jean Owens, 85, went to her heavenly home Saturday, July 25, 2020. She was born July 23, 1935, in rural Bay to the late Calvin and Ethel Mae Owens. She was a resident of St. Elizabeth Place.
Oma Jean taught school for 30 years with her final years at Nettleton. She was the pianist at Friendship Baptist Church and later organist at Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three special cousins, Grace McCann, Ethel Craig and Clara Cole, and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church. A celebration of her life will begin at 1 p.m. with Drs. Jerry Medlock and Adrian Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark McCann, Scott McCann, Robbie Holt, Sammy Lee, David Vance, Charles Burge and Steve Lewis, and as honorary pallbearers, Kathy Hosman, Alice Vance, Steve Smith, Jerry Allen, Retha Burge and Susan Lewis.
