PARAGOULD — David ”Shane” Smith, 54, of Paragould departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

He was born in Albuquerque, N.M., and lived in the Paragould and Jonesboro area most of his life. David was a shop supervisor for Jonesboro Tractor and a member of Sanctuary Church of Jonesboro.

David loved to hunt and fish, all farm animals, read and study the Bible, and helping people.

He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Smith Jr., both sets of grandparents, and one uncle, James “Blondie” Guntharp.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Smith of the home; one son, Dustin Miller of the home; two daughters, Schleena (Jacob) Jackson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Starla (Justin) Gibson of Jonesboro; guardian daughter, Annie Carter of the home; mother and stepfather, Judy and Bud Dailey of Brookland; five grandchildren, Evey Jackson, Desmond Jackson, Harley Jackson, Silas Hale and Elijah Gibson; and one on the way, Christopher Levi Gibson.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Life Center in Brookland. A celebration of life will follow at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Kenneth O’Connell and Jesse Gay officiating. Burial will be private in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro.

In compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, masks or other facial coverings and the signing of COVID-19 acknowledgment forms will be required and social distancing will be observed.
