JONESBORO — Arkansas State senior wide receiver Jonathan Adams Jr., the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year, has been named to the Phil Steele All-America team as a second-team selection.
Adams has now appeared on six All-America squads, including Phil Steele, CBS Sports, Associated Press, Sporting News and FWAA as a second-team selection. He was also a Pro Football Focus (PFF) honorable mention pick.
A Biletnikoff Award semifinalist, Adams ranks third in the nation in total receptions (79) and touchdown catches (12) and fifth in receiving yards (1,111). Both his 7.9 receptions per game and 111.1 receiving yards average rank ninth in the country.
Adams’ 1,111 receiving yards are the third most ever by an ASU player, while his 79 catches rank fifth in the school record books. He was responsible for at least five catches in every game this season and caught multiple passes in 25 consecutive games.
Adams ranks second all-time at ASU for receiving touchdowns (21), third for receptions (166) and fifth for receiving yards (2,306). His 21 career touchdown grabs are also tied for the fifth most in Sun Belt Conference history.
Texas State athletics announced Wednesday that its two-game men’s basketball series with Arkansas State, scheduled for Friday and Saturday in San Marcos, Texas, has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Bobcat program.
The Sun Belt Conference plans to reschedule the two-game series later in the season, with dates to be determined.
ASU will continue conference play Jan. 15-16 against Louisiana-Monroe at First National Bank Arena. The two-game series is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, followed by Saturday’s game at 4 p.m.
