JONESBORO — Garrett Finnicum scored 38 points Tuesday night to lead Ridgefield Christian to an 84-80 victory over Riverside in senior boys’ basketball.
Finnicum posted 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors (4-3) hold off the Rebels (3-3). Ridgefield led 35-33 at halftime and 57-53 after the third quarter.
Will Archer added 19 points and Isaiah Ellenburg finished with 13 for the Warriors.
Ethan Boatman scored 26 points to lead Riverside, followed by M.J. Wilkinson with 17, Brennen Laird with 15 and A.J. Chamness with 14.
Brookland 60, BIC 21
MONETTE — Freshman Tyler Parham scored 15 points Tuesday night in Brookland’s season opener as the Bearcats defeated Buffalo Island Central 60-21 in senior boys’ basketball.
Jackson Ballard added 12 points and Jackson Parnell finished with 11 for the Bearcats. Brookland led 18-9 after the first quarter, 32-13 at halftime and 54-17 after the third quarter.
Brookland (1-2) won the junior boys’ game 53-25, led by Cole Kirby with 15 points and Ben Jackson with 14.
Jonesboro 70, Conway 39
JONESBORO — Jonesboro tuned up for the regular season Tuesday night with a 70-39 victory over Conway in a senior boys’ benefit basketball game at Don Riggs Hurricane Gym.
The Hurricane led 18-7 after the first quarter, 38-18 at halftime and 55-32 after the third quarter. Sophomore Devarius Montgomery scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds; sophomore Deion Buford-Wesson finished with 10 points; junior Amarion Wilson recorded 10 points and four assists; junior Jesse Washington added 10 points and six rebounds; and senior Keyln McBride contributed nine points and three steals. Sophomore Isaac Harrell led the Hurricane in rebounding with eight.
Jonesboro is scheduled to open the season at home Dec. 4 against Valley View.
Tuckerman 56, Mtn. View 37
TUCKERMAN — Tuckerman dominated the second quarter Tuesday night on the way to a 56-37 victory over Mountain View in senior boys’ basketball.
The Bulldogs (8-1) outscored the Yellowjackets 26-9 in the second quarter to build a 34-16 halftime lead. Tuckerman led 46-30 after the third quarter.
Cameron Jones led the Bulldogs with 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals. David Platt contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, followed by Jayden Shannon with eight points. Tuckerman was 26-of-35 from the free throw line as a team and forced 21 turnovers.
Walnut Ridge 52, Sloan-Hendrix 47
IMBODEN — Anna Saffell sank back-to-back 3-pointers to give Walnut Ridge the lead in the fourth quarter and the Lady Bobcats went on to defeat Sloan-Hendrix 52-47 in senior girls’ basketball.
Bailey Augustine scored 18 points to lead Walnut Ridge (1-0). Chloe Davis added 10 points, while Alex Jones contributed eight and Saffell finished with seven.
Sloan-Hendrix won the junior girls’ game 41-14.
Hoxie 57, Trumann 38
HOXIE — Jaecie Brown scored 21 points and Jaedyn Brown added 16 Tuesday to lead Hoxie to a 57-38 victory over Trumann in senior girls’ basketball.
Ellery Gillham and Cara Forrester added eight points each for the Lady Mustangs. Hoxie opened a 24-12 halftime lead by outscoring Trumann 11-5 in the second quarter, then extended its lead to 43-24 at the end of the third quarter.
Hannah McClaughlin scored 14 points to lead Trumann.
Hoxie won the junior girls’ game 41-30.
Corning 50, EPC 28
CORNING — Corning built a 26-point halftime lead Tuesday night and went on to defeat East Poinsett County 50-28 in senior girls’ basketball.
The Lady Bobcats (1-2) led 20-3 after the first quarter and 33-7 at halftime. Corning carried a 45-17 lead into the fourth quarter.
Whitley Bolen scored 28 points and Marka Woods added eight for Corning. Emili Mangrum scored 10 points to lead EPC.
Corning won the junior girls’ game 33-23 as Kenlie Watson scored 13 points and Presley Martin added 10.
Mammoth Spring 67, Highland 65
HIGHLAND — Cole Young scored 20 points Tuesday night to lead Mammoth Spring to a 67-65 victory over Highland in senior boys’ basketball. Aidan Burns added 14 points, Gavin Boddie 12 and Logan Doss 11 for the Bears (5-2).
Valley View 46, MacArthur 45
JONESBORO — Host Valley View held off MacArthur 46-45 in overtime Tuesday night in junior boys’ basketball.
Carson Turley finished with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists to lead Valley View (2-0). Oliver Barr added 10 points and Lawson Ward finished with seven.
Kenyan Carter scored 15 points to lead MacArthur. Caleb Smith added 12 points and Jamarion Brownlee 10 for the Cyclones.
Searcy 50, Nettleton 46
SEARCY — Searcy held off Nettleton for a 50-46 victory Tuesday night in junior boys’ basketball.
Taylor Smith scored 17 points to lead Nettleton, followed by Deshun Jackson with 14 and Jamaree Thomas with seven. Nettleton rallied within four points at the end after trailing 40-29 at the end of the third quarter.
Annie Camp 50, Blytheville 30
JONESBORO — Allannah Orsby scored 21 points Tuesday as Annie Camp defeated Blytheville 50-30 in junior girls’ basketball.
Brooke Webb added 12 points for the Lady Whirlwinds (2-1).
Searcy 49, Nettleton 45
SEARCY — Searcy edged Nettleton 49-45 in double overtime Tuesday night in junior girls’ basketball.
Carmen McShan scored 10 points and Aubrey Butler added nine for Nettleton (3-1).
Searcy won the JV game 40-29.
