JONESBORO — Valley View built a 20-point halftime lead Monday night and held off Osceola for a 70-65 victory in senior boys’ basketball.
The Blazers (1-0) led 20-7 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 39-19 at intermission. Osceola (0-1) clawed back within 51-47 at the end of the third quarter.
Wil French scored 17 points to lead Valley View. Connor Tinsley added 15 points, C.J. Delancy and Parker St. Pierre chipped in with 13 points each, and Caleb Allen finished with 10.
Devin Brown led Osceola with 21 points. Daylin Love added 14 points and Terry Harris 12 for the Seminoles, the defending Class 3A state champion.
Valley View (1-0) won the junior high game 56-34 as Brian Huff scored 17 points and Lawson Ford added 10.
Conway 70, Jonesboro 64JONESBORO — All-state guard Chloe Clardy scored 33 points Monday night to help Conway hold off Jonesboro for a 70-64 victory in senior girls’ basketball.
Jaiden Thomas added 17 points and Savannah Scott 10 for Conway, which reached the Class 6A state semifinals last season.
Jonesboro (0-1) led 21-14 after the first quarter. Conway rallied to tie the game at 35 at halftime and led 57-49 at the end of the third quarter.
Ereauna Hardaway scored 29 points to lead Jonesboro. Destiny Thomas added 12 points and Lakiya Scott finished with eight for the Lady Hurricane.
Nettleton 54, Rector 37JONESBORO — Briley Pena scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds Tuesday night to lead Nettleton to a 54-37 victory over Rector in senior girls’ basketball.
Wakiryah Daniels added 15 points while Laila Eliotti added 10 points and six rebounds for the Lady Raiders (2-0). Rector led 11-8 after the first quarter, but Eliotti sank a last-second 3-pointer to give Nettleton a 26-23 halftime lead and the Lady Raiders led 44-30 after the third quarter.
Ellie Ford scored 19 points for Rector.
Forrest City 63, Nettleton 60FORREST CITY — Forrest City connected for 12 3-point baskets Monday night to edge Nettleton 63-60 in senior boys’ basketball.
Israel Malone scored 18 points to lead the Raiders (0-2), followed by Jabari White with 16 and Brandon Anderson with 14.
Forrest City led 18-16 after the first quarter. The teams were tied at 31 at halftime before the Mustangs built a 48-43 lead in the third quarter.
Manila 63, Paragould 30MANILA — Brayden Nunnally scored 24 points Tuesday night as Manila cruised past Paragould 63-30 in senior boys’ basketball.
Ty Wagner added 16 points for the Lions (2-0). Jamison Davault scored nine points to lead Paragould.
Tuckerman 38, Mtn. View 36TUCKERMAN — Ansley Dawson made three of four free throws in the final minute of Tuesday’s game to lift Tuckerman to a 38-36 victory over two-time defending Class 3A state champion Mountain View in senior girls’ basketball.
Raigan Head scored 10 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs and Kenzie Soden added eight, three coming on a shot from beyond half-court at the second-quarter buzzer to give Tuckerman (5-0) a 21-19 halftime lead. The Lady Bulldogs led 27-23 after the third quarter.
Aubrey Isbell scored 10 points for Mountain View.
Monday night, Tuckerman defeated Riverside 59-34 in Lake City. Kenadi Gardner scored 14 points to lead Tuckerman, followed by Hannah Miller with 12 and Dawson with 11.
Tuckerman led 23-13 at halftime and 41-18 after the third quarter. Kalli Blocker led Riverside with 18 points.
Riverside 73, Piggott 43PIGGOTT — Ethan Boatman and A.J. Chamness combined for 45 points Monday night to lead Riverside to a 73-43 victory over Piggott in senior boys’ basketball.
Boatman finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Rebels (3-2). Chamness scored 22 points while sinking seven 3-pointers, all in the first half.
Five of Chamness’ 3-pointers came in the first quarter as Riverside opened a 29-14 lead. The Rebels led 44-29 at halftime and 59-38 after the third quarter.
Shawn-Hudson Seegraves led Piggott (0-1) with 11 points.
Riverside won the junior high game 48-30.
RCS 68, Sloan-Hendrix 57IMBODEN — Garrett Finnicum scored 29 points and Isaiah Ellenburg finished with a double-double Monday to lead Ridgefield Christian to a 68-57 victory over Sloan-Hendrix in senior boys’ basketball.
Ellenburg scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Warriors (3-3). Ridgefield Christian trailed 33-29 at halftime before outscoring the Greyhounds 21-8 in the third quarter for a 50-41 lead.
Braden Cox scored 23 points and Cade Grisham added 19 for Sloan-Hendrix.
Hoxie 44, GCT 41HOXIE — Jaedyn Brown scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Monday to lead Hoxie to a 44-41 victory over Greene County Tech in senior girls’ basketball.
Jaecie Brown added eight points and six assists for the Lady Mustangs. The game was close throughout with Hoxie leading 12-11 after the first quarter, 25-22 at halftime and 29-28 after the third quarter.
Kylie Stokes scored 13 points for GCT.
GCT won the junior girls’ game 76-44.
Nettleton 45, Batesville 19JONESBORO — Nettleton rolled past Batesville 45-19 in junior girls’ basketball Monday night.
Carmen McShan scored 14 points to lead the Junior Lady Raiders (3-0, 1-0 conference), while Makila Hill added eight. Nettleton led 23-8 at halftime.
Nettleton also won the JV game 33-7 and the seventh-grade game 25-24.
