BROOKLAND — Helena Garcia homered twice in the first game and Keirstin Hammett belted two home runs in the second to lead Brookland to a doubleheader sweep of Westside in 4A-3 softball Friday.

Garcia was 2-for-2 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored as the Lady Bearcats won the first game 9-5. Taylor Reed also belted a three-run home run, while Hammett added two hits and an RBI.

Katie Rainwater was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored; Bella Byerly doubled and scored; and Emily Willett and Elizabeth Walton added one hit and one run each for the Lady Bearcats.

Hammett pitched a complete game for the victory, giving up seven hits and three earned runs while striking out two and walking two.

Bailey Willis was 3-for-3 with a solo home run and Baile Rogers was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run for Westside.

Hammett drove in five runs and scored twice on two home runs as Brookland won the second game 6-4. Byerly had two hits and one RBI; Madison Wooldridge had two hits; Gracie Davis had a hit and scored twice; and Ashlyn McNeese was also in the hit column for the Lady Bearcats (16-6, 8-0 conference).

Reed pitched six innings in relief for the victory, giving up one earned run on four hits while striking out five and walking four.

Willis was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the second game for Westside (11-6, 5-3 conference). Abby Manley was 3-for-4 and Rogers 2-for-4 for the Lady Warriors.

Tuckerman 5, Valley View 3

TUCKERMAN — Tuckerman scored three runs in the sixth inning Friday to snap a 2-2 tie and went on to defeat Valley View 5-3.

Shanley Williams was 3-for-3 and scored twice to lead the Lady Bulldogs (17-4). Gracie Smith and Audrey Altom both finished 2-for-4 with a home run each, also driving in two runs apiece. Lizzy Walker also added a couple of hits for Tuckerman.

Tuckerman pitchers Makaylie Gist and Kenzie Soden combined to strike out nine batters while working around 10 hits.

Abby Pittman homered while finishing 3-for-4 for Valley View (21-3). Anna Winkfield was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Lexi Davis was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Lady Blazer pitcher Riley Smith struck out four while giving up five runs on 10 hits and four walks.

Valley View 7, Marion 1

MARION — Valley View scored four runs in the first inning Thursday on its way to a 7-1 rout of Marion.

Kaleigh George was 2-for-4 and scored twice while Caroline Prestidge was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Lady Blazers. Lexi Davis was 2-for-4 with a double an an RBI and Abby Pittman was 2-for-3.

Anna Winkfield tripled and drove in two runs, while Sydney Saulsbury doubled and drove in two.

Riley Smith struck out 14 batters while limiting Marion to three hits.

Hoxie 3, Harrisburg 2

HOXIE — Jaedyn Brown drove in two runs to end the game in the eighth inning Friday as Hoxie edged Harrisburg 3-2 in 3A-3 softball.

The Lady Mustangs (11-5, 9-1 conference) extended their winning streak to seven games. Jaecie Brown was 1-for-3 and scored the game-tying run in the sixth when she stole third and continued to the plate when the throw went into left field. Chloe Prater was also 1-for-3 and scored the winning run.

Hoxie pitcher Ashten Wallace struck out 13 batters to get the win. Lady Hornet pitcher Kloey Harlson lost despite striking out 17 batters. Harlson also had a hit and drove in a run for Harrisburg (9-6, 8-3 conference).

Abi Bruce was 3-for-3 and Gretchen Morgan was 2-for-4 for Harrisburg.

Hoxie 14-16, Piggott 0-1

HOXIE — Hoxie routed Piggott twice Thursday in a 3A-3 softball doubleheader, winning the first game 14-0 and the second 16-1.

Kylie Jones was 4-for-4 and Jaedyn Brown belted two home runs in the first game. Jaecie Brown was also 2-for-3 and scored three runs, while Kailey Moody was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Mykala Johnson was 2-for-4.

Jaecie Brown was 3-for-3 with a home run in the second game. Jaedyn Brown was 2-for-3 and scored three runs; Kailey Moody was 2-for-3; and Hannah Riggs was 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Ashten Wallace was the winning pitcher in both games.

Harrisburg 5, Walnut Ridge 1

HARRISBURG — Harrisburg defeated Walnut Ridge 5-1 in 3A-3 softball Thursday.

Harrisburg’s Kloey Harlson struck out 16 batters while limiting Walnut Ridge to two hits. She was also 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Gretchen Morgan was also 2-for-3 for Harrisburg.

EPC 21, BIC 0

MONETTE — East Poinsett County routed Buffalo Island Central 21-0 in 2A-3 softball Friday to run its winning streak to six games.

EPC’s Keegan McCorkle shut out BIC on two hits over three innings, striking out three batters. She also had three hits, including a home run, for the Lady Warriors (17-4, 9-1 conference).

Terrin Powell was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI. Keragan Gordon and Natalie Dunman also had three hits each for EPC, and Jaycee Davis also homered for the Lady Warriors.

EPC 5, Trumann 4

TRUMANN — East Poinsett County pushed across a run in the sixth inning Thursday to edge Trumann 5-4.

Keragan Gordon finished 3-for-3 to lead EPC, while Kaylee Hood added two hits.

Winning pitcher Keegan McCorkle allowed four runs on four hits while striking out nine batters.

Tiara Postell had a hit and two stolen bases for Trumann. Kaydence Jones, Karsen Overshine and Carlie Hicks also had hits for the Lady Wildcats.
