EARLE — Earle pulled away in the fourth quarter Saturday night to defeat Rector 69-54 in the 2A-3 boys' district tournament championship game.
Rholly Davis scored 23 points to lead the Bulldogs. Earle led 16-14 after the first quarter, 36-30 at halftime and 52-45 after the third quarter.
Kameron Jones scored 23 points and Cooper Rabjohn added 20 for Rector (15-7), which will be the No. 2 seed from 2A-3 in the Class 2A North Region tournament on its home court. The Cougars play Barton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Earle defeated Riverside 56-40 in Friday’s semifinals, while Rector defeated Buffalo Island Central 67-43.
Earle and Riverside were tied at 27 at halftime, but the Bulldogs went on a 15-0 run to close the third quarter with a 44-33 lead. Davis and Jayden Smith led Earle with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
Ethan Boatman and M.J. Wilkinson scored 13 points each for Riverside (14-14), which will play Marianna Lee on Wednesday in the regional at 7 p.m.
Rector outscored BIC 23-5 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game. Jones finished with 16 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Cougars. Rabjohn added 15 points, while Lane Stucks finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Jaron Burrow scored 11 points for BIC (16-11), which plays McCrory on Thursday at 1 p.m.
