JONESBORO — Jonesboro and Little Rock Parkview were tied twice in the Arkansas Sports Media boys’ high school basketball polls Monday.

The Hurricane and Patriots, who will meet Saturday for a non-conference game in Little Rock, shared the No. 7 berth in the overall rankings. The teams were also tied for No. 2 in the five-team Class 5A state rankings.

Jonesboro (15-3, 10-0 conference) will play two 5A-East games this week before turning its attention to Saturday’s game against Parkview (14-2). The Hurricane will visit longtime rival West Memphis tonight before hosting Searcy on Friday.

Magnolia leads the boys’ overall rankings, followed by Little Rock Central, Bentonville, North Little Rock, Bryant, Maumelle, Jonesboro and Parkview, Marion and Sylvan Hills.

Maumelle leads the 5A rankings. After Jonesboro and Parkview, the rankings also include Marion and Sylvan Hills.

Blytheville received votes for the overall rankings and continues to be No. 2 in the Class 4A rankings. The 4A-3 champion Chickasaws (22-2) will close conference play tonight at home against Brookland (15-5), which is among other teams receiving votes.

Osceola (15-2) remains second in the Class 3A rankings after wrapping up the 3A-3 title. Manila (16-6) is among other teams receiving votes in 3A.

Tuckerman (19-10) is among other teams receiving votes in the 2A poll, which Ridgefield Christian (20-7) is among others receiving votes in 1A.

Paragould gained support in the girls’ rankings after handing Batesville its first loss of the season on Friday. The Lady Rams (13-5) are among other teams receiving votes in both the overall and 5A rankings. Jonesboro (15-5) also received votes in the 5A balloting.

Bentonville is No. 1 in the girls’ overall top 10, followed by Fort Smith Northside, Melbourne, Greenwood, Batesville, Little Rock Christian, Conway, Harrison, North Little Rock and Vilonia.

Brookland (15-4) moved into the Class 4A rankings at No. 4. The Lady Bearcats close 4A-3 play tonight at Blytheville, then host Marmaduke on Friday.

Marmaduke (24-4) is ranked third in Class 2A. The Lady Greyhounds have added a home game tonight against Melbourne (22-1), the No. 1 team in Class 2A.

Valley View (15-5) received a vote in 4A balloting. Hoxie (23-2) and Tuckerman (23-4) are among other teams receiving votes in 3A and 2A, respectively.
