JONESBORO — Jonesboro’s volleyball winning streak reached 50 matches Tuesday night as the Lady Hurricane fought off a challenge from Marion for the 5A-East conference lead.
Taylor Abernathy finished with 16 kills while Rosalind Lutes added 10 to lead Jonesboro to a 22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-8 victory over Marion at Don Riggs Hurricane Gym.
Abernathy also added three blocks, while Lutes was also 16-of-17 serving with 10 digs. Maddie Johnson added nine kills and three blocks; Teagan Cox finished with seven kills and three blocks; and Saraya Hewitt also had seven kills for Jonesboro (7-0, 5-0 conference).
Also for Jonesboro, Maggie Orr was 16-of-16 serving with 21 digs; Abby Johnson added 44 assists, seven digs and four aces on 19-of-19 serving; and Anna Parker and Shelbye Varner added five digs each.
Jonesboro won the JV match 25-12, 25-13.
Valley View 3, Blytheville 0
JONESBORO – Valley View made quick work of Blytheville on Tuesday, cruising to a 25-3, 25-3, 25-5 victory in 4A-Northeast volleyball.
Reese Owens and Ashley Lamkin had five kills each for Valley View (7-0, 6-0 conference), with Lamkin also adding two blocks. McKenzie Chavers was 28-of-29 serving with five aces and four digs.
Also for the Lady Blazers, Hadden Lieblong was 18-of-18 serving with six aces, six assists and three kills; Jayme Melescue chipped in with 11 assists; and Molly Findley served four aces.
Valley View also dominated the junior high match, winning 25-2, 25-2.
Madilyn Kifer was 17-of-17 serving with seven aces and four digs for Valley View. Brennan Holland served four aces; Riley Owens finished with four assists; three kills and three aces; Jillian Frye and EmiGrace Powell served three aces, with Powell also adding five assists; and Anna Lamkin added four digs.
Nettleton 3, Paragould 1
PARAGOULD – Amara Jones and Berkeley Landrum finished with 12 kills each Tuesday as Nettleton defeated Paragould 25-20, 21-25, 27-25, 25-18 in 5A-East volleyball.
Jones added 12 digs and served four aces, while Landrum also finished with three blocks. Sadie Pool contributed nine kills and two blocks.
Also for Nettleton, Abby Williams added seven kills and two blocks; Ava Gatlin finished with seven kills; Chloe Reed contributed 28 assists and 10 digs; Lilli Grace Crocker had 18 digs; and Madison Puryear finished with 12 digs.
Westside 3, Wynne 0
WYNNE – Emma Scott produced a double-double of 10 kills and 16 digs Tuesday to lead Westside to a 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 sweep of Wynne in 4A-Northeast volleyball.
Hannah Pickering added five kills and 15 digs, while Laynee Montgomery had five kills and 11 assists for the Lady Warriors. Colleen Jackson served three aces to go with five kills, eight assists and eight digs. Sydney Pickering finished with 24 digs.
Brookland 3, Forrest City 0
BROOKLAND – Talyn Hafer served 14 aces Tuesday night and Hope Barlow added 10 as Brookland swept Forrest City 25-1, 25-3, 25-9 in 4A-Northeast volleyball.
Lilly King led Brookland in kills with seven, followed by Ashton Hamrick and Abbey Hammons with five each. Abby Battles served four aces.
Hoxie 3, Harrisburg 0
HARRISBURG – Hoxie swept Harrisburg 25-13, 25-12, 25-22 Tuesday night in 3A-Northeast volleyball.
Jaedyn Brown finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs for Hoxie, also adding two blocks and two aces on 13-of-13 serving. Ellery Gillham added eight kills and three blocks.
Also for Hoxie, Kailey Moody was 18-of-18 serving with two aces, six kills and 16 assists; Mya Pinkston was 11-of-11 serving with nine digs; and Cara Forrester added 17 assists.
Hoxie won the junior high match 25-16, 25-12.
Bailey Prater led Hoxie with six kills and six digs. Hannah Riggs was 11-of-11 serving with two aces and five assists; Nadia Greer added five assists; and Blaze Lorren served two aces.
Annie Camp 2, Marion 0
MARION – Annie Camp eased past Marion 25-14, 25-9 in junior high volleyball Tuesday.
Jimaria Jackson finished with six kills and four blocks for Annie Camp, while Anna Leslie and Meadow Jones finished with five kills each. Kendall Elder was 11-of-11 serving with nine digs; Easton McDaniel was 11-of-11 serving; Julia Young added 20 assists and five digs; Rhea Bewley finished with six digs; and Kyla Yancey contributed four digs for the Lady Whirlwinds.
Annie Camp won the JV match 25-17, 22-25, 15-10. Marion won the seventh-grade match 17-25, 25-11, 15-7.
