Lady Blazers prevail in four sets

MOUNTAIN HOME — Reese Owens produced 15 kills, 11 digs and two aces on 20-of-21 serving Thursday as Valley View outlasted Mountain Home 25-11, 27-25, 18-25, 26-24 in high school volleyball.

Ashley Lamkin chipped in with nine kills and five blocks for the Lady Blazers. Tolly Fagan added eight kills and nine digs, while Natalie Supine finished with seven kills.

Hadden Lieblong was 17-of-17 serving with two aces and 23 assists; Alex Brown was also 17-of-17 serving with eight digs; Avery Hall added 20 assists; and Olivia Miles was 12-of-12 serving with 11 digs for Valley View.

Mountain Home won the JV match 8-25, 25-23, 16-14.

Jonesboro 3, GCT 0

PARAGOULD — Taylor Abernathy and Rosalind Lutes both finished with double-digit kills to lead Jonesboro to a 25-22, 25-21, 25-12 victory over Greene County Tech in 5A-East volleyball.

Abernathy finished with 13 kills and six blocks to lead the Lady Hurricane (6-0, 4-0 conference). Lutes added 11 kills, 10 digs and two aces.

Saraya Hewitt and Maddie Johnson contributed eight and five kills, respectively, with Johnson also adding three blocks. Teagan Cox had five blocks; Maggie Orr finished with 15 digs; Abby Johnson passed for 34 assists; and Anna Parker added five digs.

Jonesboro (5-0) won the JV match 25-18, 25-17.

Nettleton 3, Batesville 2

JONESBORO — Nettleton rallied to edge Batesville 24-26, 25-27, 25-14, 25-19, 15-12 in high school volleyball.

Berkeley Landrum and Abby Williams led the attack for Nettleton with 13 and 12 kills, respectively, and added two blocks each. Sadie Pool added 11 kills for the Lady Raiders.

Also for Nettleton, Chloe Reed finished with nine kills, 30 assists and 10 digs; Amara Jones added seven kills and 10 digs; Ava Gatlin served three aces; and Lilli Grace Crocker (16), Paula Guevara (15) and Madison Puryear (11) all added double-digit digs.

Brookland 3, Blytheville 0

BLYTHEVILLE — Ashton Hamrick pounded out 14 kills to lead Brookland to a 25-3, 25-1, 25-8 sweep of Blytheville in 4A-Northeast volleyball.

Keeley Beary added eight kills for the Lady Bearcats. Darby Hall had six kills and 12 assists; Lilly King finished with four kills; and Skyler Maynard added five assists.

Brookland won the junior high match 25-4, 25-2.

Westside 3, Pocahontas 0

JONESBORO – Abby Manley finished with 11 kills, six digs and four aces as Westside cruised past Pocahontas 25-14, 25-15, 25-21 in 4A-Northeast volleyball.

Ali Kercheval added nine kills for the Lady Warriors, while Hannah Pickering contributed five kills and five digs. Laynee Montgomery chipped in with 20 assists and nine digs; Sydney Pickering served four aces and added 10 digs; and Colleen Jackson had four kills.

Highland 3, Trumann 1

TRUMANN — Highland bounced back from a first-set loss to defeat Trumann 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 in 4A-Northeast volleyball.

Christina Jean-Paul finished with 11 kills and six blocks for Trumann. Hannah McClaughlin added 11 kills and 34 digs; Emma Turner was 16-of-16 serving with 18 assists, 11 digs and five kills; and Madilyn Henley added 33 digs.

Trumann won the junior high match 25-21, 25-15. Marybeth Penter was 12-of-12 serving with three aces, while Jaelyn Craig added seven assists and seven digs for Trumann.

Piggott 3, Pal.-Wheatley 0

PALESTINE — Piggott rolled past Palestine-Wheatley 25-11, 25-15, 25-12 in high school volleyball.

Maddie Reeves, Alyssa Manor, Claire Bellers and Annalee Massey had seven kills each for Piggott, with Manor adding two blocks and Reeves eight digs. Emma Langley served six aces and came up with 12 digs, while Macey Williams added 13 digs and Elise Gossett served three aces.

CRA 3, Ridgefield 2

PARAGOULD — Crowley’s Ridge Academy edged Ridgefield Christian 27-25, 20-25, 20-25, 25-10, 15-11 in high school volleyball.

Jenna Primm had 12 kills and was 20-of-20 serving with three aces for Ridgefield. Jenna Berry was 12-of-12 with six digs; Gracie Qualls was 13-of-13 with four aces and three blocks; Sarah Kate Carwell added five kills and was 13-of-13 serving; Bella Hoggard finished with 16 assists and four aces; and Sarah Beth Stracener was 13-of-13 with nine digs.

GCT 2, MacArthur 1

PARAGOULD — Greene County Tech edged MacArthur 25-19, 18-25, 17-15 in junior high volleyball Thursday.

Hope Huckabee finished with nine kills to lead MacArthur. Caroline Hughes added six kills, seven digs and two blocks; Hadley Orr contributed five kills, seven digs and three aces; and Savannah Byrd passed for 18 assists.
