JONESBORO — St. Bernards Sports Medicine will provide physicals for area students on Aug. 1 at the First National Bank Arena.
“We are excited to announce the continued partnership of St. Bernards Sports Medicine and St. Bernards Medical Group in an effort to provide the most comprehensive athletic physical possible,” Andy Shatley, director of St. Bernards Sports Medicine, stated in an email dated June 27.
Junior high physicals will be offered for students entering the 7th or 8th grades this fall, and senior high physicals are for those students entering the 9th to 12th grades.
The physicals will be offered all day on Aug. 1, and each school has a designated time to arrive. Athletes and their parents must enter the yellow entrance and only clear bags are allowed into the arena.
Parents are asked to arrive at their designated time to ensure proper flow.
COVID-19 precautions will be followed and everyone will be screened and a mask is required for entry. Attendees should bring their own masks.
Parents must create an account with SportsWare online and complete the athlete information section and HIPAA electronic form before July 27.
Students are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing, and coaches are asked to attend to help with crowd control.
St. Bernards Sports Medicine will also be providing free EKG screenings for senior high students.
The EKG screenings, offered in collaboration with Drs. Devi Nair and David Vance of St. Bernards Heart and Vascular, examine the heart rhythms and can identify abnormalities that could be life threatening, according to the email from Shatley.
While EKGs are not mandatory for athletic participation, they are recommended.
