Lawrence County has an additional 62 positive cases since last Tuesday and one additional death, according to information reported by the Arkansas Department of Health.

The ADH website showed the cumulative case count for the county at 955 as of Monday afternoon, up from 893 reported the previous week. The one new death reported, brings the total number of Lawrence County residents who have been reported as COVID-related deaths to 23.

While 62 cases were added, 65 were reported as having recovered bringing that total to 831 compared to 766 the week before and leaving the active case count at 101, down four from last week’s 105.

Nursing homes see improvement

Both Lawrence Hall Health and Rehab and Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab are reported as having no active cases among their residents as of Friday.

WRNRC shows to have four staff members with active cases, while LHHR shows two staff members with active cases.

School cases mostly down

Cases in local school districts are mostly down as Walnut Ridge, Hoxie and Sloan-Hendrix all have fewer than five cases. Hillcrest School District is showing nine active cases according to the ADH, which only reports numbers on districts with five or more cases.

Sloan-Hendrix was lowered to orange status, which designates districts where there are 30 to 49 cases per 10,000 residents.

Walnut Ridge, Hoxie and Hillcrest are all reported as red, which is the designation for districts that have 50 to 99 cases per 10,000 residents within the district.
