The Walnut Ridge Airport Commission met in special session on Thursday to consider changes to the airport’s accounting services.
Danny Mayfield with Smith Mayfield LLC had informed the commission at the regular January meeting that the firm would no longer be able to keep the books for the airport.
At Thursday’s special meeting, commissioners voted to have City Clerk/Treasurer Sharon Henson take over the accounting duties.
Henson and Mayor Charles Snapp were at the meeting to discuss the system used by the city and the type of reports the commission could expect to receive from Henson.
Commissioners voted unanimously to have Henson take over the bookkeeping effective April 1 at a rate of $500 a month, which the airport will pay her through the city.
In addition, Airport Manager Stacy Hoggard will take over some of the non-accounting duties that were performed by Smith Mayfield, such as preparing the agenda for commission meetings and taking minutes.
