For the third week in row the number of new cases of COVID-19 and the number of active cases have seen a substantial decrease in Lawrence County.

The Arkansas Department of Health only reported 46 news cases of the virus among Lawrence County residents over the past week. As of Tuesday, the ADH website showed the county’s cumulative case count at 1,920 compared to 1,874 the previous week.

This follows the two previous weeks when the county saw 63 new cases and 82 new cases, respectively.

The active case count dropped 10 cases this week to 65, compared to the 75 reported last Tuesday and the 92 reported the week before that.

In addition, the ADH reported that 55 residents have recovered from the virus, bringing that total to 1,814, up from the 1,759 reported last week.

One additional COVID-related death was reported among Lawrence County residents bringing that total to 41.
