The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Lawrence County have more than doubled in the past week, according to information reported by the Arkansas Department of Health.
Last Tuesday, Lawrence County was reported to have 16 active cases, while reports this Tuesday show the county’s active case count at 36.
Lawrence County is also reported to have 97 recoveries and nine deaths.
A statewide mask mandate ordered by Gov. Asa Hutchinson went into effect on Monday. The mandate calls for individuals to wear a mask when they are with people from outside their household and unable to maintain a six-foot distance.
Counties can be exempted from the mandate if they have no active cases for 28 days. This policy is similar to the one in place for nursing homes, that allow visitation if a facility has no active cases among its staff or residents for 28 days.
