The number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Lawrence County over the past week saw a dip with only 76 being added to the numbers compared to 91 new cases the week before.

As of Tuesday, the Arkansas Department of Health was reporting 1,338 total cumulative cases for the county, up from 1,262 the week before.

The number added to the recovered list was also 76, with Tuesday’s recovery count reported at 1,207, up from the 1,131 recoveries reported the previous Tuesday.

One death was added for the county, Lawrence County’s first death added as a probable COVID-19-related death, bringing that total to 33.

With the number of new cases and recoveries being the same, the active case count went down one due to the death that was reported.

Tuesday’s active case count was reported at 98, while last week the ADH website had Lawrence County with 99 active cases.

First vaccines arrive in state

The Arkansas Department of Health administered the first vaccinations in the state on Monday at the ADH.

Several front-line healthcare workers received the first COVID-19 vaccinations, which were shipped shortly after the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization last week.
