Betty Housdan (Carter), 77 of Conway, passed away peacefully Sunday Feb. 7, 2021.

She was born June 6, 1943, to Wilson and Gladys Carter in Walnut Ridge. Betty married C.D. Housdan on June 17, 1965.

A passionate teacher, Betty began teaching in 1983, and effected generations in that pursuit until her retirement from Head Start in 2014. She loved a long chat, a cold Coke on ice and a good laugh. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeneen Housdan and wife Kassie Housdan of Sherwood, and Elizabeth Mancini (Housdan) and husband Dante Mancini of Milton, Fla.; grandchildren Victoria Stork (Johnson), Corrine Johnson, Garrett Booker, Kirstin Mancini, Ethan Mancini and Gabriel Mancini; and great-grand-daughters, Kairi and Everly Stork; brother, David Carter; and several loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Billie Ruth, Aline, JoAnn and Barbara.

Having a love for lighthouses, the beach and seagulls, Betty’s ashes will be scattered by loved ones at Cape Henry, Va., in honor of her love for all things seaside.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation and Kindred Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, in Jacksonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please send donations to St. Jude in her honor.
