Billy Darrell Hooten, 83, of Walnut Ridge, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro.

He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in the Eaton community near Lynn, to Fred Hooten and Ara Mae Richey Hooten. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 41 years. He was an avid bowler for over 50 years. He married the love of his life, Peggy Sneed, on July 5, 1958, and moved to Walnut Ridge from Rockford, Ill., in 1959. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jessie Hughes and Kathryn Zickler.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; son, Michael (Windy) Hooten of Batesville; daughter, Nancy (Don) Bellcock of Maumelle; four grandchildren, Joe Hooten, Adam Bellcock, Amber (Nathan) Edwards and Allen (Nikki) Glass; two great-grandchildren, Stoker and Wells Glass; and many loving friends.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 22, 2 from 1-2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services began at 2 p.m. with Rob Combs and Don House officiating.
