James L. Wright, 77, of Hoxie, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in the Wild Cat Corner community in Sharp County, to James Lloyd Wright and Lula Sexton Wright. He was a farmer. He was a former elder and current member of the Hoxie Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lula; and his first wife, Vida Ann Griffin Wright.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Wright, of the home; sons Mike (Laura) Wright of Smithville and Kevin (Beverly) Wright of Hoxie; daughters, Diane (Boyce) Dulaney of Black Rock and Jeanette (Clarence) Smith of Sedgwick; sisters, Gail Mosier of Batesville and Linda Bergeron of Machesney Park, Ill.; brother, Harry Wright of Swifton; eight grandchildren, Bethany (Cody) Holcomb, Sara Ann Wright, Layne Wright, Cooper Wright, Michelle Weldon, Tony Dulaney, Bruce Wayne Smith and Crystal Parker; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hoxie Church of Christ.

Funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m., at the church with Bill Wheeler and Steve Prestidge officiating. Interment was in Lawrence Memorial Park under direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge and Lynn.
