Jimmy Dean Meeks, 73, of Black Rock, died Thursday, May 6, 2021, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Black Rock, to Cecil Meeks and Johnie Woodson Meeks. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a Christian and proud of it. He married Ada Marie McDowell on Nov. 4, 1972. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He attended New Life Full Gospel Church, which he helped build. For all who knew him, his passion for the Lord and his sense of humor will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Johnie; daughter, Christie; grandson, Jared Blaze; two sisters; and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Ada, of the home; daughters, Jessica (Del) Bagwell of Ash Flat, and Carla Meeks of Black Rock; brothers, Bill “Carrot” Meeks, Curtis “Mole” Meeks, and Winston “Pedro” Meeks; 15 grandchildren, Rasha, Chris, Koty, Dylan, Caleb, Sabina, Kaylie, Haley, Brooke, Zephyr, Layla, Kiera, Slade, Cash and Mattheis; three great-grandchildren, Zeke, Cohen and Maggie June; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was Monday, May 10, from 11 a.m. till noon at New Life Full Gospel Church in Black Rock. Funeral services began at noon with Chad Burton officiating.
Burial was in Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge and Lynn.
