Roger Gail Smith, 72, of Knobel, died July 10, 2020, at his residence.

Born Dec. 16, 1947, in Knobel, he was the son of the late William Everett and Mary Booth Smith. He was a heavy machine operator for the Clay County Road Department. He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, fishing and working in his shop.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Rogers; and three brothers, Gene, Jackie and Calvin Smith.

Survivors include his brother, Jimmy Smith of Sacramento, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Private interment was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
