William Ruben Nelson, 85, of Jonesboro, died May 20, 2021, at his residence.

Born June 7, 1935, in Walnut Ridge, he was the son of the late Earnest Franky and Maggie Alberta Aust Nelson. Ruben was a farmer and of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, doing yard work and helping his neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rhonda Hibbard; one grandson, Jeffery Allen Qualls; 10 brothers and sisters; one daughter-n-law, Pamela Nelson; and two sons-in-law, Mark Qualls and Rickey Becker.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Nelson of Beech Grove and Phillip (Tracy) Nelson of Jonesboro; two daughters, Lavan Qualls of Hardy and Janet Becker of Jonesboro; 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Nelson of Imboden, Donnie Nelson of Sedgwick and Freddy Fry of Bono; four sisters, Marie Russom of Bono, Mary Fry of Walnut Ridge and Jean Tribble and Kay Fry, both of Imboden; and his loving significant other, Shirley Miller of Jonesboro; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were Sunday, May 23, at 2 p.m. at Lorado Cemetery with Bro. David Moore officiating. Pallbearers were his family and friends.

Visitation was Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home.
