Pandemic is not over

To the Editor:

I have not seen the active case Covid numbers for Lawrence County for the last two weeks in The Times Dispatch. I think that it is very important to publish these findings. Many people in this area seem to think the pandemic is over and it is not. The state continues to see new cases daily accompanied by new deaths.

I would also like to see articles encouraging citizens to get the vaccine and wear masks in public if they are not fully vaccinated.

The new CDC guidelines, which no longer require masks for fully vaccinated people, are wonderful. But here in Lawrence County most people are not wearing masks anyway, while only a small percentage of the population is fully vaccinated.

I don’t want us to get back to where we were a year ago, but with new variants emerging and the unvaccinated failing to follow the CDC guidelines, I fear the outcome won’t be good.

Thank you for considering these suggestions.
