Pictures of the Past

A groundbreaking ceremony for the building of a new fire station in Alicia was held in November 1986. A grant from the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission was used to finance the building with Locke Construction Company of Jonesboro as the contractor. Today, the building serves as the fire station and city hall. Participating in the ceremony were (from left): Larry Corbett, mayor; James Taylor, fire chief; Paul Logan, alderman; Marvin Reynolds, alderman; Hardy Little, architect / engineer; Gary Locke, contractor; George Enderwood, project administrator; County Judge Elmer Gibbs, Jackie Ross, executive officer of the Walnut Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce; State Representative Tom Baker, Joe Foster, project administrator; Glen Smothers, alderman; Leavier Shook, alderman; and Muriel Taylor, recorder-treasurer.
