The 2023 Lawrence County Farm Family of the Year has been awarded to Fred Schmidt (right) of Morning Star Farms Partnership and Bryan Schmidt (center) of Green Wing Farms LLC. The father-son duo, along with (from left) Curt Hawkins, Amy Schmidt and Angie Schmidt, have farmed in Lawrence County for several years. Fred’s father, R.L. Schmidt, was named Arkansas Farm Family of the Year in 1966. This year’s Lawrence County Farm Family of the Year special section will be featured this summer in The Times Dispatch.
