Hillcrest teams compete in regional tournament

The Hillcrest boys lost to Concord, 48-42, in a first-round game on Thursday.

The contest was close throughout, with Concord leading 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. The teams played even in the second and third periods, as the Pirates maintained their one-point advantage at halftime, 23-22, and at the end of the third quarter, 38-37. Concord outscored the Screamin’ Eagles 10-5 in the final period to take the six-point victory.

The Screamin’ Eagles ended the season with a 10-18 overall record and were 6-8 in 1A-3 conference play.

Girls

The Hillcrest girls also saw their season end with a first-round loss. The Lady Screamin’ Eagles fell to Rural Special, 57-38, on Thursday.

The Lady Rebels led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and stretched the lead to 35-20 at the intermission. Rural Special outscored the Lady Screamin’ Eagles 22-18 in the second half to secure the win.

The Hillcrest girls concluded the season with a 12-17 overall record and were 4-4 in the 1A-3 conference standings.
