Palestine-Wheatley edged Walnut Ridge in an exciting five-set volleyball match on Sept. 21 at Palestine. Walnut Ridge won the first two sets, 25-16, 25-20, but the Lady Patriots rallied to take the next two, 25-16, 25-17, and won the decisive fifth set 15-13.

For the Lady Bobcats, Caitlyn Sheets had two aces, two kills and eight digs. Emma Gipson added a kill and six digs. Gracey Collins had seven kills, a block and 13 digs. Kinley Davis finished with an ace, three kills, 14 assists and 14 digs. Marguerite Gill had 14 kills, five assists and 21 digs. Melanie Jones had an ace, three kills and 17 digs, and Ty Cook added five aces and eight digs.

Palestine-Wheatley won a junior high match 25-15, 25-13.

For Walnut Ridge, Alli Bramlett had two kills and a dig. Baily Rorex had six aces and 10 digs, while Jadyn Clark added a dig. Karlee Broadway had two kills and four digs, and Mallie Jean recorded 11 digs. Rhealyn Schmidt had a kill and two digs.

Cave City

The junior Lady Bobcats swept a doubleheader at Cave City on Sept. 22. Walnut Ridge won a hard-fought three-set match 25-21, 20-25, 17-15. The Lady Cats won the other match 25-16, 26-24.

Cumulative stats for both matches included:

Bramlett recorded two aces, five kills, two assists and four digs. Rorex had five aces, a kill and nine digs, and Emoree Davis added a kill. Clark had two aces and five digs. Broadway finished with an ace, four kills, an assist and 22 digs. Jean had four aces, four kills and 25 digs, and Schmidt had five kills, a block and seven digs.
