The Hoxie Lady Mustangs won the 3A Northeast District Tournament championship. Hoxie defeated Piggott in four sets, 25-22, 21-25, 25-9, 25-12 in the title match on Thursday at Mustang Gym.

The Lady Mustangs will carry their perfect 19-0 record into the 3A state tournament, which will be played this week at Episcopal Collegiate High School in Little Rock. Hoxie was scheduled to play Central Arkansas Christian in the first round on Tuesday morning.

In the district finals against Piggott, Kailey Moody had 31 assists, a dig, seven kills and served 15/15 with an ace. Chloe Prater had an assist, 15 digs, eight kills, a block and served 18/18. Ellery Gillham had 11 digs, 12 kills, four blocks and served 17/18 with three aces.

Cara Forrester had 23 assists, four digs, three kills and served 15/15. Mya Pinkston had four digs and served 5/5. Jaedyn Brown had an assist, 17 digs, 15 kills, three blocks and served 14/14 with two aces, and Mykala Johnson had three digs, four kills and a block.

Semifinals Hoxie – WR

Hoxie hosted Walnut Ridge in a district semifinal match on Oct. 21. The Lady Mustangs won the match in three sets, 25-6, 25-9, 25-14.

For Hoxie, Moody had 18 assists, a dig, three kills and served 7/7. Forrester had 13 assists, two digs, 11 kills and served 8/9. Brown had two digs, six kills, two blocks and served 5/5. Pinkston had seven digs and served 12/12 with an ace. Gillham had two digs, nine kills and served 13/13 with four aces. Prater had a dig, three kills and served 25/25 with four aces. Olivia Palmer had a block, and Johnson had two kills.

WR – P-W

Walnut Ridge defeated Palestine-Wheatley, 25-9, 25-21, 21-15 to earn the conference’s third seed in the state tournament.

The Lady Bobcats were scheduled to face Jessieville in a first-round match on Tuesday at noon in Little Rock.

First round WR – Cave City

Walnut Ridge advanced to the finals by winning a first-round match against Cave City on Oct. 20 at Sharum Gymnasium in Walnut Ridge. The Lady Bobcats swept the match in three sets, 25-14, 25-23, 25-19. The win also clinched a spot in the state tournament for the Lady Cats.
