Cody McEntire of Walnut Ridge recently competed in the Bassmaster National Finals on Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tenn.

He competed against 253 anglers from across the United States, as well as two foreign countries.

He was one of 10 anglers chosen from Arkansas to compete in the event. He qualified by finishing fourth in the Bassmaster High School Series State Championship at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville in August.

McEntire finished Bassmaster National Finals week ranked 93rd in the nation and fourth out of Arkansas.

A 2020 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School, he is the son of Heath and Leonna McEntire. He plans to attend Arkansas State University Mountain Home this fall and fish for the ASUMH college bass team.
