Mustang Ira Tinker shoots over a Rivercrest defender during Hoxie’s 86-39 loss to the Colts on Thursday.

The Hoxie Mustangs defeated Piggott 61-51 in 3A-3 senior boys basketball Saturday night at Mustang Gym.

Mason Woodard led the Mustangs with 20 points. Cade Forrester had 16 points and Weston Whited finished with 13 points for Hoxie.

Jake Jones scored 12 points to lead the Hoxie junior high boys to a 23-21 win over the junior Mohawks.

Earlier in the week, the Hoxie senior boys dropped a 75-52 decision to the Mohawks on Jan. 26 at Piggott.

In that game, Piggott led 17-8 after one quarter and 38-30 at halftime. The Mohawks outscored Hoxie 18-6 in the third period to stretch the advantage to 56-36 entering the fourth quarter.

Forrester led Hoxie with a game-high 20 points.

In junior high action, Hoxie got 30 points from Kayden Glenn as the junior Mustangs defeated Piggott 58-44. Jones chipped in 18 points for Hoxie.


The Hoxie boys played a home-and-home with the Rivercrest Colts on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Colts defeated Hoxie 83-24 on Wednesday at Wilson. Rivercrest also won the junior boys game, 54-32.

Rivercrest traveled to Hoxie on Thursday and defeated the senior Mustangs 86-39.
